Happy Thanksgiving Church & Welcome to the Beginning of Advent,
I hope that you enjoyed some good food and fellowship yesterday, no matter how you celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. We stayed home and cooked for two days, took twenty minutes to eat, and then two hours to wash dishes. Sound familiar? After consultation with our church leaders and at the recommendation of our Regional Visiting Ministers, we have decided that we will return to online only worship beginning immediately through January 10, 2021. We will plan on gathering on January 17, 2021, to resume our every other week in person worship if it is safe to do so. This is a difficult situation for us all and we will do our best to include everyone in some way in the life of the church.
On Sundays at 10AM you can join us for live worship on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/DCCBoardman. On Wednesdays at 9AM you can join me for live Bible Study on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/258304075666. And you should receive by email or on Facebook our daily devotions. I will be offering some special postings, calls and contacts to help us continue to prepare in this season of Advent. Starting Saturday, November 28 @ noon-Monday, November 30 @ noon, you can pick up an Advent packet (one per family) by the Office door. They will be in a plastic tote outside, please make sure to secure the lid before you leave. If you would like one delivered to you, please let Rev. Beth know.
Our plans for Outreach in this holiday season will continue even though it will look different. We will not have the Journey to Bethlehem, but we will offer gifts to Safe House (Tony’s kids), Adopted Grandparents (Cheryl at The Woodlands), and Backpacks for the Homeless (Rescue Mission). We ask that you give monetary donations only this year and mark them for the holiday outreach projects. Rev. Beth will do any necessary shopping/ordering and deliver the items to each place. Pictures of the completed projects will be posted on Facebook and the church website. Please also continue to give your regular and special offerings to the church by mailing them in, giving online at www.discipleschristianchurch.org, or arranging for someone to pick up your envelope. We are still the church no matter where we meet and we need you even more in this time. So many count on us to share in the blessings that God has given to us. Our plans to do a food box distribution is currently on hold until Easter, unless conditions change.
We will still join together this Sunday, November 29, 2020, for our Congregational Meeting, following Worship. It will be online or on the phone via GoToMeeting. Please see the link for the video meeting and the phone number/code for dialing into the meeting. We will discuss/vote on the 2021 Budget (almost identical to 2020) and discuss/vote on the 2021 Slate of Offices (also mostly the same). If you need a copy of either document, please let Rev. Beth know.

I know that it is disappointing to not gather together and I pray that you will gather with us in all the ways offered and be in touch if you have any needs during this upcoming period of time. I truly miss being with each of you and I pray God’s blessing on you family, health and holidays.
